The book

NSA intelligence has revealed threads of a new terror threat. This time, it isn't bombs and guns. It's far more sinister—and far more wide-reaching. NSA Director Jane Marlow knows the threat is real. And what it will mean if it isn't stopped.

But an isolationist U.S. government is cutting foreign operations and intelligence gathering that no longer fit its mandate. Marlow knows what's at stake—and what could happen if the threat is ignored. She brings in John Emmett Kane, a decorated former Delta Force operative and Lieutenant Colonel, to lead a small, off-the-books team to find the truth—and stop it before it begins.

Spanning three continents and seven countries, Silent Crossfire is an espionage thriller that pits Kane and his team against a network of terrorist organizations in a race against the clock to discover what they have planned, where they will strike, and whether they can stop it in time.

About the author

Andrew Mason is the author of the John Emmett Kane series, of which Silent Crossfire is the first installment. Before turning to fiction, Mason spent years as a copywriter and content strategist, work that sharpened his instinct for pace, voice, and the kind of sentence that keeps a reader turning pages. That same background — alongside experience in design — shows up in his fiction as a sharp eye for structure and detail.

Drawing on influences ranging from Lee Child to Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum, and Alex Berenson, Mason writes espionage thrillers that favor tension over spectacle and character over caricature. Silent Crossfire continues his exploration of the moral gray zones where intelligence work actually happens.

Mason lives and writes in Toronto, Canada, where he's currently at work on the next John Emmett Kane novel.
